VIVEKANANDA NETHRALAYA” and AROGYO MULTISPECIALITY HOSPITAL” are the two major medical wings through which the organization has been dedicatedly and relentlessly providing medical and surgical aid mainly to the deprived and under- privileged poor villagers belonging to the Santhal community, the scheduled castes, the scheduled tribes, the minorities and other backward communities apart from providing medical help to other sections of the society either free of cost or realising fees at the minimum level.

Vivekananda Nethralaya started functioning in the year 2000 at Kolikata at Maharaja Apartment, DC-90/1, Narayantala (West). Po – Deshbandhunagar, Kolkata – 700059, West Bengal,India and then its next branch-started at Bolpur, Birbhum, West Bengal. Dr. Bhaskardev Mukhopadhyay is the founder of both Vivekananda Nethralaya and founder Secretary General of Saviour Holistic International Trust. He is the drawing, disbursing, appointing and dismissing authority of both the units.

The ultimate goal of the organization, as visualized by our Chairman, Hon’ble Dr. Gopaldev Mukhopadhyay is the “TOTAL REHABILITATION” of a portion of the people who are suffering with visual impairment of various degree due to difterent reasons and people who are suffering from various other physical ailments, by providing them required medical treatment and care and preparing them for some suitable economically viable occupation as well as arranging for them a comfortable basic accommodation.

The first branch of Vivekananda Nethralaya started functioning in a rented building on and from 14/1/2005 in Bolpur. The Board started functioning in 2004 and got its registration from the government as a trust on 01/06/2007 with the name of Saviour Holistic International Trust. The Trust with its associate body VIVEKANANDA NETHRALAYA’ started its activities at Bolpur near Santiniketan in Birbhum district and ever since nurtured a goal which was “let there be light” in every single eye; wash away the darkness and bring them to the world of light. And today we are successful in putting a smile onto thousands of those wrinkled faces.

In 2008 VIVEKANANDA NETHRALAYA extended its wings at Durgapur in Burdwan district of West Bengal also. Up till now we have covered 50% of the villages in the district of Birbhum, 15% in the district of Jharkhand its neighbouring state, and 35% in Burdwan district. Until now we have covered 200 villages and extended free medical aid cumulative to about 2.5 lakh of population in Birbhum, Burdwan and Bankura district of West Bengal and Dumka district in the state of Jharkhand in eye conservative treatment and surgeries.

Our Mission

Keeping up with the momentum the organization has been progressing with, no wonder, there is an exhaustive wish list that it desires to materialize in the near future. The list stands as follows-

The Vision

With the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and the beliefs of Captain James Henry Saviour and Mrs. Elizabeth Saviour rooted deep in the heart, the Trust and Vivekananda Nethralaya is destined to forge ahead relentlessly, for the sake of uplifting the poor and backwards. Empowerment of the deprived through the restoration of vision and livelihood thereafter this noble pursuit is destined to reach greater heights in course of time. All it needs is the blessings of one and all and some generous beings coming forward with a little help. If right intent and conviction is duly backed by some munificence, the Trust and Vivekananda Nethralaya will undoubtedly herald the beginning of happiness to so many who have been yearning for that.
